About an hour and half from the bustle of Venice on the southern end of the Venetian Lagoon is the serene and picturesque village of Chioggia.

I spent a few days capturing photos and video footage for the latest ’52 Places in a Changed World’ feature published in the New York Times recently.

The late autumn light was spectacular and the peace and tranquility of the town’s tiny streets and canal-side walkways was a stark contrast to the chaos of neighbouring Venice.

The perfect alternative to experience the beauty and allure of the Venetian Lagoon without the frenetic pace and crowds.
