The Royal Palace of Caserta or the Reggia di Caserta, in the town of Caserta, just 35km north of Naples, Italy. Constructed by the House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, as kings of Naples. The Reggia Caserta is the largest palace erected in Europe during the 18th century and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Designed by architect Luigi Vanvitelli, the late Baroque and early Neoclassical palace, has a floorspace of 138,000 square meters, distributed in the five stories of the building. Construction began in 1752 - there are 1742 windows in the palace.
